Concomitant left atrial appendage exclusion (LAAE) currently has a Class Ia guideline for stroke prevention in cardiac surgery patients with Afib. The LeAAPS trial is evaluating whether LAAE can also prevent strokes in high-risk cardiac surgery patients without a history of Afib. ​
