The risk of developing Afib after heart surgery can be as high as 50%, making new onset or post-operative Afib the most common complication following cardiac surgery.
What’s being done to lower that?
The BoxX-NoAF trial is studying surgical ablation and left atrial appendage exclusion in patients who have risk factors for developing Afib during cardiac surgery.
This prospective, multicenter, randomized FDA-approved clinical trial is the first of its kind and will study up to 960 subjects at up to 75 sites worldwide.
